Coldwater nips Indians (04/12/06)

FORT RECOVERY — The Indians put together a strong effort in their first Midwest Athletic Conference battle of the season, but fell just short.
Fort Recovery’s baseball team went toe-to-toe with one of the teams favored to win the MAC, coming away with a 2-1 loss to the Coldwater Cavaliers Tuesday.
The Tribe (6-4, 0-1 MAC) trailed 1-0 after the first inning, tied the score in the bottom of the second and fell behind again in the top of the third. Neither team scored the rest of the way.
Clint Tobe suffered the defeat, allowing two runs on eight hits. He walked two and struck out one.
Troy Metzger had the lone extra-base hit for the Indians, a double. Tobe and Chris Galdeen each added singles, and Kevin Schoenherr scored Fort Recovery’s run.
Junior varsity
COLDWATER, Ohio — The Cavaliers dominated, finishing off Fort Recovery 16-2 in five innings.
Jordan Hess, Travis Hart and Brady Kahlig each pitched in the defeat.
Matt Braun finished 2-for-2 with a pair of stolen bases and scored both runs for the Indians (2-3).
