Comer's double-double lifts USF
Collegiate Check-up
The University of St. Francis men’s basketball team was ranked in the top 25 early in the 2012-13 season. Kegan Comer has helped get the Cougars back in the rankings again.
The 2013 Jay County High School graduate recorded the first double-double of his collegiate career Tuesday in the NAIA Division II No. 19 University of St. Francis basketball team’s 79-56 destruction of visiting Taylor.
Comer racked up 10 assists for the Cougars (9-3) while shooting 5-of-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from the foul line for 14 points. He also had two steals and a rebound.
The freshman finished with 16 points and six assists in an 89-66 victory over Mt. Vernon Nazarene on Nov. 26.
He added three rebounds in the win.
Comer ranks 16th in the NAIA’s Division II in free-throw percentage at 89.8. He is averaging 12.6 points and 3.3 assists while shooting 51.6 percent from the field.

Scored in double figures for the third time in four collegiate games Wednesday in the Anderson University men’s basketball team’s 66-50 loss to Rose-Hulman.
Schwieterman paced the Ravens (0-7) as he hit a 3-pointer and finished with 15 points. He also had a team-high seven rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist.
The freshman, who opened his career with 18 points against the Division I Evansville Aces, also had 14 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal Nov. 26 in a 76-66 loss to Spalding. He also had seven points, three rebounds, three assists and two blocks as AU fell 71-48 to Trine on Monday.

Powered the Huntington University women’s basketball team to its 62-55 victory Nov. 26 over Marian.
Speed paced the Foresters (7-3) with 17 points while also dishing out a team-high six assists. She added five rebounds and two steals.
The senior also led HU with six assists Wednesday while adding 14 points and three rebounds in a 72-49 blowout of Spring Arbor.

Was one of five players to score in double figures as the Bethel College women’s basketball team evened its record Wednesday with an 87-74 victory over Goshen.
Hunt shot 6-of-9 from the field for her 12 points. She also had three rebounds and two assists as the Pilots improved to 5-5.
The junior finished with three rebounds and a block Nov. 26 in a 69-49 loss to NAIA Division II No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan.

Had a perfect shooting night for the Saginaw Valley State University men’s basketball team Nov. 26 in its 97-73 win over Grace Bible.
Gelhaus finished 4-of-4 from the field and scored with nine points. He also had three steals, two rebounds and two assists.

FRHS – 2012
Led the University of Northwestern Ohio women’s basketball team in rebounding in its 62-58 loss Wednesday to Madonna.
Kahlig came off the bench to grab a team-high seven rebounds as the Racers (5-4) produced a 45-34 advantage on the glass. She also had eight points and six assists.
The sophomore finished with five points, four rebounds and an assist Saturday in an 87-54 loss to Findlay, and had nine points, five rebounds, one assist and one block Nov. 26 as UNOH fell 80-61 to Davenport.
Brock McFarland
JCHS – 2013
Played for the Grace College men’s basketball team Nov. 26 in its 75-66 loss to Taylor.
McFarland grabbed a pair of rebounds to the Lancers, who are now 5-2. He added one rebound Tuesday in a 61-60 loss to NAIA Division II No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan.

Was one of three members of the Bethel College men’s cross country team to be named a 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete.
