Commissioners open backhoe bids
Jay County Commissioners
The Jay County Commissioners opened bids for two new backhoes Monday morning with the lowest bid coming in at less than $100,000 after trade-in.
The commissioners received and opened bids from four companies for two backhoes for the surveyor’s department.
Jay County Surveyor Brad Daniels said the current backhoes are beginning to run into maintenance issues.
The apparent low bid was submitted by MacAllister Machinery Company for $119,878 with a credit of $27,000 if the county trades in its current backhoes for a total of $92,878.
MacAllister also entered the second lowest bid for a different model at $103,200 after the $27,000 trade-in.
Other bids were submitted by MacDonald Machinery Co., Inc., $129,914, $22,000 trade-in; Southeastern, $134,500 or $138,100, $10,000 trade-in; and Westside Tractor Sales of Indiana, $154,900, $24,300 trade-in.
The bids were taken under advisement and will be reviewed by Daniels before action by commissioners.[[In-content Ad]]
