Committee asks for help

The Angel Tree Committee is once again planning the Christmas Angel Tree project. In 2002 we were able to serve over 500 children and their families with the help of donations from organizations and businesses such as yours. Also in 2002, we were able to provide 70-plus food boxes for the elderly, who are often forgotten at the Christmas season. We plan to provide food boxes for them once again this year.

We are sure it will be necessary to serve even more families, children and the elderly in 2003 with the employment situation in Jay County and the state of the economy as a whole. Therefore, we are calling on you for your help. We must not forget our own citizens with needs in Jay County.

We are planning to distribute applications through our schools, churches and the Salvation Army and Community and Family Services offices, trying to reach all of the needy families in our Jay County area. We are certain the Angel Tree will be full of names of deserving youngsters. It is important to stress that any items or funds that are not used for Christmas are given to the food bank, Easter Egg hunt, Pregnancy Care Center, schools, and other organizations that directly assist Jay County citizens.

Please make plans to help us make this another great year. You will help put a smile on some of our own and make your heart smile too by giving to others.

Applications from families are currently being taken and will be taken until Nov. 5, 2003. Applications were distributed to each child in Jay County elementary schools. If you did not receive one, applications are available in the Salvation Army office.
