Committee says thanks for dinner help (12/09/06)

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

Awesome. That's the only way to describe this community and your response to the community Thanksgiving Dinner. We served over 400 dinners, with 250 meals going to eagerly waiting homebound friends and neighbors.

All the food dropped off at Asbury had the tables filled to overflowing, allowing all dining in to eat their fill. With the leftovers available for carrying home and donations of many door prizes from local restaurants, groceries, pharmacies and meat markets, it was obvious all would look forward to fine meals well past the holiday.

It is amazing to watch one group of volunteers enter as another leaves, tackling the many jobs as their time allows. Beginning with packing meals early in the morning for the homebound, continuing through the sit-down dinner and on through running the sweeper for clean-up, you responded generously right up to the end.

From the beginning the committee was aware of the One in charge. And at the end of the day, it was obvious from the warmth and fellowship felt throughout the room that His will was done. Thank you for sharing true love and brotherhood.

May your holidays be blessed as you have blessed the lives of so many.

With heartfelt thanks,

The Community Thanksgiving Dinner Committee - Pastor Darrell Borders, Art Hall, Thurman and Betty Hisey, Paul and Helen Martin, Russell and Marna McAbee, Ralph and Thelma Myers, Dolphus and Nora Stephens, Emily Steveson, Pastor Mark Strietelmeier, Russ and Carol Smith and Judy Zearbaugh

To the editor:

It would not be possible for Jay-Randolph Developmental Services to fulfill our commitment to effectively and efficiently provide quality services to the people we serve without the cooperation of many other persons and organizations. One of the organizations is the Jay County Public Library that allows us to use their community room for our staff trainings.

We greatly appreciate the kindness they have shown in offering these rooms free of charge to us and other non-profit organizations in the community. The library is easy to find, and has provided a comfortable and effective setting for our trainings. We appreciate the flexibility of the scheduling and the kindness and professionalism of their staff.

The Jay County Public Library is a great asset to this area and we are grateful for their support of our mission as well as their many other contributions to this community.

Sincerely,

Anita Young, executive director, and Ken Fredricksen, direct care staff training coordinator, Jay-Randolph Developmental Services Inc.[[In-content Ad]]
