Community is fortunate to have the Ritz (07/27/06)

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

We are fortunate to have a movie theatre in Portland.

The prices are reasonable, movies are the best, and the popcorn is great too.

The recent refurbishing of the Ritz is very attractive and an asset to the downtown area.

Thanks,

Linda Kennedy

Treasonous

To the editor:

Ever since the birth of our great nation, American patriots have shed their blood in defense of American freedom. And we are still doing it in Iraq.

Recently we have learned that the U.S. Department of State is very dedicated also, but in a more sinister fashion. On June 24, 2004, James N. Cunningham, the deputy ambassador, told the American people that the U.S. State Department would no longer protect our armed forces from arrest from the United Nations. This means that the United Nations has the ability to arrest and put in prison any member of our armed forces and the United States would not protect them from imprisonment or any harm. This was the first betrayal of the American people by the State Department.

The second betrayal of the American people by our State Department was the promise to the people of Mexico that the State Department would build a huge building in Mexico so that the people of Mexico could gather there to collect our Social Security checks.

Sure enough, in record time the promised building was built. No doubt at American taxpayers' expense.

In the third betrayal of the American people by the State Department, I believe that they went a bridge too far.

For quite some time, the Department of State has been meeting secretly with the Russians. The plan is to allow the Russians to have thousands of miles of Alaskan heartland that contain billions of barrels of oil.

The islands that the Department of State is planning on giving to the Russians are Wrandell Island, Herald Island, Jeannette Island, Copper Island, Se Rock Island, and Sea Otter Island. These American islands contain billions of barrels of oil, oil that America desperately needs. In addition, tons of fish and other seafood and additional tons of valuable minerals and ores.

I received this vital and startling information from a Mr. Carl Olson, the chairman of State Department Watch, Washington, D.C.

He has sent an emergency petition to Condoleeza Rice, our Secretary of State, demanding for her to put an immediate stop to this giveaway of our oil rich islands of Alaska to our enemies.

Our Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice travels the globe. In case she does not receive the information in time, I have written a back-up emergency petition to the U.S. Congress.

I ask everyone reading this article to write to Congress immediately as once the Russians have our oil-rich islands we probably won't get them back.

For the past 60 years, I have written to Congress and various newspapers.

This is the worst case of outright treason that I have yet encountered.
