Confused by situation

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
There has been of late much discussion of how and what to do about our soaring deficit, and a multitude of solutions from both Republicans and Democrats.
I am of the opinion that if we could harness and sell all of the hot air emanating from our nation’s capital, we could eliminate the deficit with some left over.
But to my point, last year I made just a little over $30,000. I paid Social Security taxes, I paid Medicare/Medicaid taxes, and I paid federal, state and local income taxes.
Published reports (newspapers and the Internet news feeds) stated that General Electric Corporation made a $14.2 billion profit based on world wide operations. How much did they pay in taxes ?
Nothing, zip, nada, none etc.
Now tell me, who is in a better position to help reduce our deficit?
Grandpa and Grandma, or companies like GE?

Twenty-five years ago, Jay County High School Drama Department presented The Pulitzer Prize play Our Town.
On May 20-22, 2011 Jay County Civic Theatre, Inc. and JCHS Thespians will be presenting Our Town by Thornton Wilder at Jay County High School.
This innovative production will use both adult and high school actors and technicians.  Events after the show will be planned Friday and Saturday nights as well as JCHS Thespians hosting a banquet Sunday, May 22, 2011 inviting alumni from both groups.
Our goal is to have JCHS Theatre Alumni and former JCCT, Inc. cast & crew members present at the banquet.
We are asking for assistance finding JCHS Theatre Alumni.
We are asking alumni to contact Carol Knarr, JCHS Theatre Director at [email protected] or (260)726-9306 or Tim Morris, JCCT Treasurer at [email protected] or (260)726-8002.
