Contradiction?

Editor's mailbag

By To the editor:-

I am writing this letter in response to two issues before our country at this time: The subjects of the Abu Gharib prison scandal and the homosexual marriage issue.

First of all, I do believe the pictures of nudity, homosexual poses and now new pictures our military personnel have stated are sadistic pornographic posing and blatant posing and blatant acts such as are associated with “hard-core” porn.

All the words expressed by our president and military personnel I fully agree with.

Having said this, isn’t it ironic that so many people in our country would call these acts outrageous, and then so openly and blatantly demand that our country legalize these acts in the name of same-sex marriages?

Our president, George W. Bush, has not “waffled” on these issues — he opposes these actes, whether it be in an Iraqi prison, other countries, as well as in our own free country of the United States of American.

May I strongly request that our legal systems move forward quickly to rectify the prison situation as well as outlawing gay-lesbian civil marriage licenses that are being thrust upon the rest of our nation at this time.

May God continue to bless our president, his cabinet members and all those who are trying to uphold the Bible God-given commandments here in our country.

President Lincoln said it so well in the many Bible-based speeches he made while in the highest posts in our country: “A nation divided against itself can not stand.” We are certainly divided on the two above subjects.

So let us stand against the lewd acts that are being done to those prisoners but also fight for the same purity and freedom here in America.

Stand up America and let us return to the great principles our forefathers fought for in the American Revolution. Let Freedom Ring — let it ring for purity and not allow people to desecrate the great holy sacrament of marriage as God intended it — between a man and a woman.

Proverbs 28:4 states the situation like this: “They that forsake the law praise the wicked; but such as keep the law contend with them.” (our president)

By the way, I do have friends and acquaintenances who are gay or lesbian. However, I (and others) should not let this sway the way we decide to uphold Bible beliefs and American law (which at one time were one and the same).

One last thought. I would like the information on all senators and representatives who have voted for same sex marriages and yet strongly request that our top leaders, including Mr. Rumsfeld, Ms. Rice, Mr. Powell, and yes, our president and others resign or be ousted for these practices in Iraq. In short, to wreak havoc on them when these leaders abhore both.

Sincerely,

Sue McBride
