Council thanks volunteers
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
As I write this my mind thinks of a logo, “Jay County — A Place to Grow.” I truly believe this is the place after attending a banquet at Bearcreek Farms sponsored by the Jay County 4-H Council in honor of all the 4-H adult volunteers that work endless and payless time with our 4-H youth each year toward a goal of making the best better.
I sat and watched Cara hand out certificates to 10, 15 and 25-year volunteers, and also recognize all other volunteers of the county for a job well done. I sat there and listened and watched other volunteers talk about what 4-H means to them: working with the youth and watching them grow and develop from year to year in getting better and better at their goals. I think these people have to be a special kind of people to have a desire and love in their hearts for our youth today; to help and watch them grow and excel year after year.
I would like to thank these people for a great job done year after year, because 4-H needs great volunteers to help “make the best better,” and this cannot be done without their help.
I would like to thank Jeff Overholser of WPGW for being the master of ceremonies and Bearcreek Farms for serving us and providing a place for the banquet.
To show our appreciation to these volunteers there were numerous businesses that gave door prizes. So thank you to Pizza Hut, Payless Pizza, The Flower Nook, Jay County REMC, First Merchants Bank, Patriot Sweetcakes, Summer Breeze Tanning, Clear Chiropractic, Schmit Chiropractic, Dick’s Pizza, Burger King, Crossroads Financial Federal Credit Ujnion, and Buffalo Wings & Rings.
Thank you to all these people of Jay County. For it is truly seen that with great 4-H volunteers and great businesses the motto, “Jay County — A Place to Grow,” and the 4-H motto, “To Make the Best Better,” are well applied in Jay County.
