County may abandon 650 East
Jay County Commissioners
Jay County Commissioners directed attorney Bill Hinkle to set in motion paperwork to vacate a small stretch of county road near the site of a proposed confined feeding operation.
The county is considering the vacating a section of county road 650 East north from road 400 North to Limberlost Creek in Wabash Township.
The bridge at the creek is out of service, and the road south of the bridge has essentially been abandoned by the county for many years.
One of the adjoining property owners is hoping to site a hog operation and would like to be able to secure the site with a gate on the road at some point.
Also this morning, commissioners asked county engineer Dan Watson to take a look at extending a culvert near the intersection of county roads 500 South and road 75 East.
It is difficult for those driving farm equipment to negotiate that corner because the culvert is insufficient.[[In-content Ad]]
