County: No to low bid on dump truck
Jay County Commissioners
Jay County Commissioners decided to pass on the lowest bid for a new truck chassis due to past maintenance issues.
Highway superintendent Ken Wellman reviewed bids for the new truck chassis and came back with a recommendation that the commissioners pass on the lowest bid of $92,067.52 for an International chassis.
Wellman said the department currently has an International and that it has needed more maintenance and repair than other trucks in the fleet.
Wellman then suggested the county purchase a Kenworth truck from Palmer Truck at a cost of $95,154. That bid was the middle bid of three that the commissioners received.
The commissioners approved the purchase of the Kenworth truck.
In other business Monday, the commissioners:
•Were informed by Jay County Auditor Nancy Culy that Internet service at the courthouse is slowing due to increased use by all the offices.
Culy informed the commissioners that the courthouse could increase its bandwidth from a 5 megabit per second ($79.95 per month) to a 10 megabit per second connection for $99 per month.
The commissioners agreed to make the upgrade as long as the county doesn’t have to enter into a long-term service contract.
•Approved an emergency claim of $100,000 in Economic Development Income Tax funds. The money will go out in disbursements to Fort Recovery Construction and Equipment, $75,000, and MyFarms, $25,000.
The Jay County Council approved EDIT incentive packages with both companies in September and October, respectively.[[In-content Ad]]
