County OKs drainage plans for local industry
Jay County Commissioners
On a morning when most of the area was dealing with too much water, Jay County Commissioners gave their stamp of approval to plans to help prevent flooding by a local industry.
The commissioners approved drainage plans today for Fort Recovery Industries, which plans to pave a parking lot at its location in the Portland Industrial Park.
Jay County Surveyor Brad Daniels said the company plans to pave a lot near the production facility on county road 100 North and submitted drainage plans for the improvement.
“They are adding some water so they’re adding a little detention pond,” Daniels said.
Although there is a large detention area in the industrial park, Daniels said he’s not sure how much the pond can hold since he was never given exact specifications when it was constructed during the XPLEX development.
“They’re just being proactive and making sure they’re not causing any issues,” Daniels said of Fort Recovery Industries’ plan to construct a new detention area for the paved lot runoff.
The commissioners unanimously approved the drainage plans.
In other business this morning, the commissioners:
•Approved a change to wording about drainage assessments. The commissioners approved a change to have assessments billed by parcels instead of by lot.[[In-content Ad]]
