County to seek dump truck bids (10/19/04)
Truck will be used by highway department
Bids for a new dump truck for the Jay County Highway Department will be opened early next month.
Bids for the tandem-axle truck will be opened Monday, Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m.
Ken Wellman, superintendent of the county highway department, told Jay County Commissioners Monday the truck he is hoping to replace is more than 10 years old.
Wellman also has tentative plans to convert the dump truck scheduled for replacement into a salt truck. The county currently has only one truck used to spread salt on county roads.
Wellman and the commissioners also set Monday, Dec. 6 to open annual bids for crushed stone, bridge materials and equipment rental. Those bids will be opened at 1:30 p.m.
Also Monday, Commissioners Mike Leonhard, Gary Theurer and Milo Miller Jr. agreed that sales disclosures and property cards won’t be available to the public on the county’s computerized Geographic Information System.
Jay County assessor Anita Mills said the information is being added to the GIS, but urged that it be available only through a password.
The commissioners also gave county prosecutor Brad Burkett authorization to purchase a new computer for his office.[[In-content Ad]]
