Courthouse is beautiful (11/21/05)

If you missed it during Winterfest, don’t worry. There’s still time to enjoy the beautifully decorated Jay County Courthouse.

Each year, the custodial staff and volunteers from numerous county offices work countless hours to make sure the county’s centerpiece is worthy of the occasion, decking its halls for Christmas.

Though there is no tree auction this year, the courthouse still features extravagantly decorated trees provided by local organizations.

The result is a holiday showplace, a place which merits a spot on the top of the list when it comes to hosting visitors from out of town.

Local residents have long been proud of the courthouse, of course. Its austere, dignified architecture and its sound construction provide a proud statement of solidity, permanence, and heritage.

But decked out for Christmas, it’s more than that. It’s dazzling.
