Coverage was sensationalized

I have a few words to say about the way your newspaper printed the story about my precious son, James Dean Enyart. This article was printed in many papers and most were very kind and considerate in their reporting, saying that he died suddenly at his home. No lies, just the facts without the sensationalism.
We would have hoped that in a town where Jim still has many relatives that some consideration would have been exercised out of respect for them, as they are all fine, honest, giving, respectable people and an asset to Portland.
You chose, however, to sensationalize to the nth degree ... and you don’t know my son. You have no idea how he has suffered and what he was been going through. Jim was one of the kindest, gentlest, most loving, giving, helpful and loyal son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend anyone will ever know, but he had one moment that he could not bear to live through and did the unthinkable.
We, his family, are all devastated and struggling to get from one day to another, and it is all made much more difficult because of the sensationalized story printed in your paper.
I want each and every one of you to know that I do not love or respect my son one iota less than I did before he left this earth for a better place. I would do anything if I could change what happened, but of course I can’t.
I don’t know where you got your facts and I’m not saying that you did anything illegal, but you surely could have used a little consideration and compassion for your customers.
I don’t know how many of my family members subscribe to your newspaper, but if I had I would have canceled already.
Before any of you sit in judgment of me, take a few steps in my shoes.
Sincerely,
Jim’s mom,
Eva Lou Dreiling
