Craft show thanks given
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Xi Chapter, Delta Theta Tau, Portland, would like to take this opportunity to thank the many individuals that participated in the tremendous success of Xi Chapter’s 26th annual “Delts’ Holiday Arts and Crafts Show”.
We are so fortunate to have the support, patience, cooperation, and tolerance of the faculty and staff at Jay County High School!
Thank you to: Mrs. Vickie Reitz, Mr. Tom Ferguson, the students that helped mark booths, move tables and chairs; Karmella VanSkyock; to all the custodians that helped us out on Thursday and Friday; to custodians Shannon Kaufman, Rodney Bye, Debra Brinkerhoff, and Teffeny Lowe that helped out so much on Saturday; the swim team and coach Barry Weaver; the wrestling team and coach Jim Myers and all other coaches, the foods classes and Ms. Kay LeMaster; students from the band; the Key Club and sponsor Rene Haines; and other students from Jay County High School who worked beyond obligations to fulfill their Senior Performance Program requirements. The hard work of all these individuals and groups is greatly appreciated.
We thank the Jay County Sheriff’s Department and the Jay County Sheriff’s Reserve for their help, along with Santa and his helper for sharing their time with us on Saturday.
We value all our participating dealers. Their participation by displaying their chosen arts and crafts, renting booth space, renting tables, buying raffle tickets and purchasing food items add to the money that is used to lend a helping hand to so many. You, our dealers, play a valuable part in this “giving back”! Also, thank you for your generosity for your donations for the drawings throughout the day.
Our show would not be the success that it is without the patronage and enthusiasm of our community and surrounding communities. We thank each of you for your continued support! Your support makes it possible to give back so much to those in need. The local businesses that you visit in the Jay County area that day appreciate your support
We would like to take this time to acknowledge and praise each of our Delta sisters! Without each of you and your commitment to Delta Theta Tau, the “Holiday Arts and Crafts Show” would not exist. The rewards that we receive are many. Each time we are able to extend a helping hand to someone by using the earnings that we acquire from our show we realize how significant and satisfying all the hard work, tired muscles, and hours of planning are to our community. The realization that the success of this event has enabled Xi Chapter to give back at least $500,000 in the last 26 years is humbling and fills our hearts with pride!
We extend a sincere thank you to each of our sisters that are Associate members or Members-at-large that are always willing to help in many ways.
This event would not be possible without many helping hands. Thank you to our dear friends at the Youth Service Bureau Staff, their families and the residents for generously donating their valuable time helping us at the craft show.
And to our families: We could not survive without your understanding, encouragement and assistance. You are always there to do anything that we ask of you! And we do ask so much of you, over and over again. The show would not be possible or be as successful without YOU!!!!
If you helped in anyway and we forgot to mention you, we sincerely apologize! But, please know that it takes many “helping hands” to achieve the success of this event and, in turn, allows Xi Chapter, Delta Theta Tau, to give back so much to our community!
Sincerely,
Linda Ashman, for
