SIDNEY, Ohio - The defending state champions were too much for the Tribe.
Fort Recovery had a chance to drop the Lehman Catholic Cavaliers to 3-3 this season. But after winning the opening game, the Indians couldn't get another in a 17-25, 25-17, 25-18, 26-24 defeat Tuesday.
Abby Niekamp led Fort Recovery (4-2) against the Cavaliers, who finished 30-0 in taking the Division IV state title last season but has losses to Marion Local and Hopewell-Loudon already this year. She finished with team highs of 33 assists, 20 points and 11 digs.
Vicki Roessner had eight digs, seven kills and five points, and Tiff Gaerke totaled 20 kills and four blocks. Brittany Brackman also had five points.
JV/freshman
The Indian junior varsity squad slipped to 1-2 with a 25-13, 25-23 loss to Lehman Catholic. Fort Recovery's freshman team defeated the host Versailles Tigers 25-21, 25-17 to improve to 2-1.

FORT RECOVERY - Both Tribe teams are still looking for their first victory of the season after the eighth graders fell 26-24, 25-22 to the Minster Wildcats and the seventh grade team lost 25-13, 25-9.
Haley Wilson scored a team-high seven points for the Indian eighth graders (0-3), and also added four kills. Kendra Brunswick had six assists and three points, and Olivia Thien added five kills and three points.
Kara Faller led the seventh grade team (0-3) with three points, two kills and a block. Kayla Kahlig had four points and one kill.[[In-content Ad]]
