FORT RECOVERY - The Indians had a counter-punch for Celina's first swing. But they couldn't keep up for the rest of Friday's battle.

Fort Recovery High School's softball team lost its fifth straight game, 12-9 to the Celina Bulldogs.

Celina scored six times in the top of the first inning, and the Tribe (6-11) responded with five runs in the bottom of the frame. But the Bulldogs put up four more runs in the top of the third and built a 12-5 lead before FRHS put up two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings for the final margin.

Andi Sutter took the loss as Celina racked up 21 hits while striking out just once. Three of the 12 Bulldog runs were unearned.

Kinsey Wenning led the offense for the Indians with two hits, including a double, two runs and an RBI. Kelly Sudhoff had two hits and two RBIs, Olivia Thien scored twice and Joanna Snyder and Amy Hart also had two hits apiece.

Fort Recovery will try to halt its losing streak today when it travels to New Bremen for sectional semifinal action against Minster at 1 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
