Don't miss fair fun this week
Editorial
An exciting week lies ahead.
You can almost taste the Lionburgers, the sausage sandwiches, the tenderloins, the homemade ice cream, and the elephant ears.
Listen and you can almost hear the laughter and happy screams on the midway.
Look closely and you’ll see that 4-H kids and their families are already hard at work.
Another Jay County Fair is upon us, providing a tremendous opportunity to come together as a community, with old friends and new acquaintances gathered together at a single spot for some old-fashioned fun.
4-H events kick off this weekend, and the rest of the fair follows suit on Monday.
As usual, there’s a little something for everyone: Livestock shows, baby contests, harness racing, a pet parade, live entertainment — some of it homegrown and some of it big name, commercial displays, and demolition derbies. If you haven’t been to a Jay County Fair in awhile, you’ve missed something special.
If you’ve never attended the annual 4-H livestock auction as a bidder or spectator, you’ve missed out on a real piece of rural Americana.
And if you’ve never tasted a Lionburger, a sausage sandwich, a tenderloin, homemade ice cream, or an elephant ear, well neighbor, you haven’t really lived life to the fullest. Indulge in a little Jay County Fair this week. You’ll be better for it. — J.R.[[In-content Ad]]
