Don't miss last chance
Editorial
The weeks of summer can slip away so fast you barely have time to complain about the heat before you’re raking leaves.
Need a reminder how quickly the season slips away?

That’s right.
Before the July calendar page is even turned, the Rockets will have made their final appearance at Runkle-Miller Field in Portland Memorial Park.
If you’ve missed the Rockets this season or — worse yet — have never made it to a Rockets game at all, you’re missing out.
The quality of baseball is competitive with much of minor league play, the players are there for the love of the game not a paycheck, and these guys are winners.
The record chalked up this season is just short of astonishing.
Name another team in baseball that’s won 27 games and lost just five. That translates into better than .800 if you’re trying to compare it to professional baseball won-lost percentages.
This weekend the Rockets host a pair of double-headers in the World Baseball Congress Tournament, taking on a pair of teams from Fort Wayne. Saturday’s first game starts at 2 p.m. Sunday’s action begins at 1 p.m.
So before August gets here and before summer completely slips away, our advice is to head to a ball game. Take a lawn chair if you want or find a spot in the bleachers.
You won’t regret it.
And besides, it’s the best bargain around: Admission is free. — J.R.[[In-content Ad]]
