Drainage plans are tabled (09/11/06)
Jay County Commissioners
By By MARY ANN LEWIS-
A developer's request for the Jay County Drainage Board to approve a drainage plan may be approved by the local board when all the requirements are submitted.
Jason Bullard, who has plans to develop Hidden Cove subdivision in southeast Portland, asked the drainage board to approve drainage plans, but hasn't met all requirements.
Bullard first submitted the plans to the board in March 2005, but has not proceeded with the project, Jay County Surveyor Brad Daniels told Jay County Commissioners Faron Parr, Gary Theurer, and Milo Miller, today.
According to Daniels, Bullard has not completed Rule 5 requirements and has not obtained an easement from one landowner.
When Bullard presented the plans in 2005, the board voted to table the request until all necessary requirements were completed.
Today the board agreed to approve the plans, provided the Rule 5 and easement issue are settled.
Rule 5 states that if an acre or more of ground is disturbed, a sediment runoff plan must be submitted.
"I don't want to throw a monkey wrench in the project," Miller said, "as long as all that is met. That's the conditions we told him a year ago."
Also today, commissioners heard rural Portland resident Don Loy ask about progress being made on possibly tearing down a former railroad viaduct on 600 West south of Powers Station in Jefferson Township.
"We haven't forgotten about it," Theurer said he was told by county engineer, Dan Watson. "They just don't know what they're going to do with it."
The rail line has been abandoned for several years.[[In-content Ad]]
