Dunkirk budget session on hold
Dunkirk City Council

DUNKIRK — A special city council meeting Wednesday to discuss budget-cutting options for next year has been postponed.
Clerk-treasurer Jane Kesler said she discussed the issue with an official from the State Board of Accounts and that there were potential issues with holding the session.
Several city council members have already indicated that they feel the $1.6 million budget proposal should be trimmed by approximately $150,000 in order for it to be balanced.
The $1.6 million budget for 2011 was based on the 2010 budget, but projected revenue for 2011 will not be able to support that, Dunkirk city officials said.
Kesler said she used 2010 budget figures in preparing the 2011 budget, which does not include pay raises for city employees.[[In-content Ad]]
