Dunkirk does transfers (12/30/03)
Council makes end-of-year transactions
DUNKIRK — Year-end transfers of funds and earmarking money from this year’s budget to be spent on designated items next year were the highlights of a brief city council session Monday.
Specific amounts of city funds were encumbered for use next year on a variety of projects ranging from street paving work to equipment for the city pool and park.
Due to cash flow restraints and the delay in receiving tax money this year, councilman Dan Watson noted that he had $29,122 to be encumbered for street paving work next year. His request was unanimously approved.
Also council members voted to encumber $6,090 from the clerk-treasurer’s fund to purchase computer software for payroll and ledger operations. This will be purchased from Keystone Consulting Services, Yorktown.
For the parks and recreation department, a total of approximately $20,000 was encumbered.
This amount included $3,000 for the construction of a handicapped ramp and handrail for the city pool by Robbins Concrete, Dunkirk; $4,743 for a new fence in the ball diamond area by Gabbard Fence, Winchester; $2,000 for a variety of electrical improvements by Ron Piercy, Ridgeville; $4,473 for installation of a new pump and motor at the city pool by Hanlin Pumps and Well Drilling, Pennville; and $5,760 for new playground equipment from American Playground Corp., Anderson.
In addition funds were encumbered for the fire department, totaling $566 for new all-terrain tires for the department’s grass rig from Miller’s Marathon Pantry of Dunkirk; and $600 to Best Buy of Muncie for a DVD machine so the department can record its VCR training tapes as DVDs.
In other business Monday, council members congratulated city water department employee Nathan Jones for passing his water plant operating license state examination. He was notified last weekend of this accomplishment.[[In-content Ad]]
