Dunkirk voters will be winners
Editorial
The winner is Dunkirk.
That conclusion is inescapable after spending some time with the two candidates for mayor.
Both Dan Watson and Gene Ritter bring to the job proven problem-solving abilities.
Both are engineers.
Both are committed to bettering their community.
In fact, the two have so many things in common that it’s become a kind of standing joke during the campaign.
And, after all, they only live two doors away from one another.
In true small town fashion, this is one of those races that’s more about the individuals than party labels. And our guess is that whoever wins in November, both men will continue to be involved in Dunkirk civic life. That’s the kind of guys they are.
These days, when partisan rancor seems to be the order of the day, when knocking your opponent seems almost mandatory, Ritter and Watson are all about staying focused on how to improve life in the town they live in. No matter how you cut it, this is one of those elections where the real winner will be the voters.
They’ll have a tough choice between two good candidates. What a nice problem to have. — J.R.[[In-content Ad]]
