East Jay defeats Tribe spikers

FORT RECOVERY - The Chiefs came back across the border Thursday with two victories.

The East Jay Middle School eighth grade volleyball team stayed undefeated while leaving Fort Recovery winless with a 5-25, 25-19, 25-14 victory over the Indians. EJMS also took the seventh grade match 25-12, 25-22.

Fort Recovery (0-6) commanded the opening game of the eighth grade match behind 22 consecutive points from Hannah Kaup, who finished the night with 28 points and five aces. However, the Chiefs (5-0) rallied back to win the next two as Rachel Ferguson also racked up a total of 28 points.

Tasya Smith totaled 12 digs in the win for East Jay. Katlin Petro had six kills and two blocks, and Ali Inman finished with six assists.

Lexi Schmitz had six kills and a dig for the Tribe. Sierra Pugh finished with four kills and one block and Morgan Dues had four assists and one dig.

In the seventh grade match Jessica Kerrigan led East Jay (4-1) with 18 points, including seven aces. Catherine Dunn had four digs and two kills, and Breanne McIntire scored five points.

Rachel Pugh totaled four points and two assists for Fort Recovery (1-5). Tori Lennartz added three points and two blocks, and Cassidy Rammel had three points, one kill and one assist.[[In-content Ad]]
