Easy process key to success
Editorial
If you make it easy enough and free, people will do the right thing.
That’s a lesson learned by the Jay County Solid Waste District which conducted yet another successful Tox-Away Day on Saturday.
Final figures haven’t yet been compiled, but organizers say the volume of materials dropped off for recycling was up from last year.
The line was long but moving slowly from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at East Jay Middle School’s parking lot.
Old tires constituted a big chunk of what was dropped off, but there were also old batteries, half-filled paint cans and defunct electronics deposited responsibly for recycling and disposal.
And every truckload was good news for the local environment.
Farmers made up a substantial percentage of those participating in the event and deserve credit for getting on the Tox-Away bandwagon.
But the real key was making the entire process free and easy. — J.R.[[In-content Ad]]
