Edmundson tosses 1-hitter

A Jay County High School graduate turned in the pitching performance of her career April 10 for the Ancilla College softball team.
Amber Edmundson, a 2008 graduate of JCHS, tossed a one-hit shutout over Jackson Community College to lead the Chargers to a 2-0 victory.
The only hit of game against Edmundson came on the opening at bat as she earned her fourth victory of the season. She struck out three batters as she shut down the Jackson offense.
Edmundson added her fifth victory Wednesday and also had a pair of hits as Ancilla topped Kellogg Community College 5-1 in the second game of a double-header. She drove in two runs while pitching a four-hit victory March 26 against Macomb Community College, and had two hits April 3 in a 10-7 loss to Jackson.
Jana Beitler
South Adams - 2009
Smacked a pair of hits Thursday for the Goshen College softball team in an 8-6 loss to Spring Arbor.
After Spring Arbor scored five times in the top of the seventh inning, Beitler tried to rally the Maple Leafs by leading off the bottom of the frame with a double. She came around to score, but Goshen couldn't manage any more runs in the defeat.
The freshman finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, a walk, three runs and two stolen bases.
Beitler totaled a hit, a run and an RBI in back-to-back games April 10 against Indiana Tech and Tuesday against Huntington. She finished with two hits, two runs two RBIs and a stolen base April 9 in the first game of a double-header against St. Francis, and totaled one hit, one run and two RBIs in the second game.
Anne Lehman

Also helped the Goshen College softball team recently in games against Spring Arbor and St. Francis.
Lehman had one of just three hits Thursday as the Maple Leafs lost 11-2 to Spring Arbor. She finished 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, a run and an RBI April 9 in the first game of the double-header against St. Francis.
Brandon Reynard

Turned in the top finish among three former Jay County High School athletes who competed April 9 and 10 in the Indiana Intercollegiate Little State Championship at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Reynard, an Indiana Tech freshman who finished fifth in the IHSAA State Championships in the 300-meter hurdles during his junior year at JCHS, won his heat of the 400 hurdles at the Little State meet in 55.31 seconds. He improved on that time by nearly four tenths of a second, finishing the championship race in 54.95 for third place in a field of 39 runners.
He also competed in the 4x400 relay, teaming with Lucien Harris, Russell Dill and David Army for a fourth-place finish in 3:18.7.
Amanda Johnson
Jay County - 2008
Also competed in the Little State meet, helping the host Wildcats to an impressive effort in the 800 run.
Johnson, an IHSAA state medalist in the event in 2008, qualified for the finals of the event by taking third in her heat in 20.53 seconds. She improved upon that time, finishing the championship race in 2:19.86 to finish sixth out of 38 competitors as Indiana Wesleyan placed four runners in the top six.
The sophomore also joined Kailee Whitaker, Angi Wolgemuth and Cassidy Wagner for a third-place finish in the 4x400 relay in 3:57.79.
Joseph Vormohr

Turned in a top-10 finish for the Hanover College men's track team at the Little State meet.
Vormohr had his best effort in the discus, launching a throw of 155 feet, 7 inches to place sixth in the field of 52. He was also 19th in the shot put at 43 feet, 5 ¼ inches.

Reached base in all three of his at bats Tuesday in the Baylor University baseball team's 5-4 win over UT-Arlington.
Ludy finished 3-for-3 in the game and drove in a run before being lifted for pinch runner Kenton Gedwed, who came around to score one of the Bears' five runs. He also had two hits, including a double, a run and an RBI April 10 in a 13-1 win over Texas A&M, and finished with a single as Baylor rolled over UT-Arlington 18-8 Wednesday.
Daniel Bollenbacher
South Adams - 2008
Pitched the Wabash Valley College baseball team to victory Sunday over Olney Central College.
Bollenbacher cruised to the victory as he struck out five batters in six innings. He allowed three runs on five hits.
Dexter Shreve

Placed eighth in the pole vault for the Kent State University men's track team April 10 at the Northeast Ohio Invitational hosted by Akron.
Picking up the new event, Shreve cleared the bar at 13 feet, 2 ½ inches for his eighth-place finish. He was also ninth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.65 seconds, and joined teammates Ruben Belen, Michael Schober and Keith Hurst for third in the 4x400 relay in 3:22.46.

Helped pitch the Manchester College baseball team to a 13-8 victory April 10 over Franklin.
Atkinson tossed the last two innings of the game for the Spartans, shutting down the Franklin Lineup. He allowed just a hit and a walk while striking out two batters in two scoreless innings.[[In-content Ad]]
