Superintendent resigns to take another job
BERNE — The South Adams Schools superintendent has announced her resignation and accepted another job.
Cathy Egolf submitted her resignation to the South Adams School Board on Wednesday. Board members accepted her resignation during the five-minute special session. The resignation is effective Friday, Aug. 6.
During the meeting, former board president Tony Mellencamp spoke on behalf of Egolf, who did not attend the meeting. He said Egolf has accepted a position as superintendent of East Washington School Corporation in Pekin, which is located in southern Indiana.
Egolf’s resignation comes about a month after members of the school board recently announced that they will not renew Egolf’s contract after the 2010-11 school year.
Her employment was scheduled to end June 30, 2011.
The board will hold another special meeting Monday to name either an interim or a permanent superintendent.[[In-content Ad]]
