Egolf out at South Adams
South Adams School Board
BERNE - The countdown to the end of Cathy Egolf's term as superintendent of South Adams Schools has begun.
Members of the South Adams School Board voted 5-2 Tuesday to not renew Egolf's contract after the 2010-11 school year, meaning her service with the corporation will end June 30, 2011.
"All of the things we hired Cathy to do, she did," board president Tony Mellencamp told the Decatur Daily Democrat for a story this week.
"She hasn't done anything wrong, but a lot of innovative things are beginning to occur in education, and we feel it's time to move in that direction."
Also Tuesday, the board eliminated an assistant athletic director position at South Adams High School held by Herb Resler.
Several South Adams administrators told members of the board that Resler's duties included maintenance and supervision of athletic venues and events.
All agreed that other athletic and custodial staff at South Adams could take over Resler's duties.
Becky Biberstein said Tuesday that more than $80,000 will have to be trimmed from next year's budget, even with the elimination of the $35,000 assistant athletic director position.[[In-content Ad]]
