EJ 7th boys, Fort girls stay perfect (12/19/07)

Three area teams extended their perfect records Tuesday.
The East Jay Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team and the Fort Recovery seventh and eighth grade girls squads all remain undefeated after posting wins by more than 30 points.
East Jay's seventh graders turned in the widest margin, topping host West Jay 61-17. The Fort Recovery seventh grade girls dominated on the road with a 38-4 win over the Union City Indians, and the Tribe eighth grade girls won 42-10.
The East Jay eighth grade boys were also in action, defeating West Jay 32-19 to improve to 7-1.
In the seventh grade boys game, EJMS (8-0) outscored the host Eagles 36-4 in the second and third quarters combined to take control. Brock McFarland racked up 20 points in the victory. Cade Price added 15 points, and Kegan Comer scored 11.
Fort Recovery's seventh grade girls (6-0) shut out Union City in the second and fourth quarters. Chelsea Pottkotter, Amy Link and Melissa Lochtefeld led a balanced scoring effort with six points apiece.
The Tribe eighth graders (6-0) held Union City without a field goal in the first half, leading 25-1 at the break. Kylie Kahlig led the way with 11 points, and Kelly Nietfeld followed with 10.
Matt Landfair scored 13 points to lead the East Jay eighth grade team, which had an 11-0 lead at the close of the first quarter. Andy Haffner added six points.
