Jay County Commissioners
Jay County Emergency Management Agency will utilize two grants to purchase new equipment to aid local emergency personnel.
Jay County EMA director Ralph Frazee approached the Jay County Commissioners to get approval to use two grants of $40,000 and $3,700 for purchases.
The $40,000 grant, Frazee said, will be used to purchase $33,114.80 for training equipment with the remainder going to purchase radios for the Portland Police Department.
Frazee said this morning that the training equipment includes TVs, computers, a projector, sound system and other technology that will be installed in the new training room at the Jay County Jail.
The $3,700 grant will be used to give the county’s mobile command center wireless network capabilities and also to purchase a new ID badge system.
The commissioners made Frazee purchasing agent to use both of the grants for the equipment.
In other business Monday, the commissioners:
•Approved all bids for sand and gravel that were opened at last week’s meeting.
