End of U.S. as we know it?

Letters to the Editor

What we saw last weekend (March 21) was the death of America as we know it. I feel like all the people who voted for Obama and the Democrats were as Esau, who sold his birthright to Jacob. Esau never knew what he had done until years later either. Just as we are now.

I am so disappointed in the ones who call themselves Democrats in Congress and go against the wishes of the American people. The majority of people did not want this bill. Yes, health care does need work done to it. We all agree on that, and there are good and right things that can be done if the government wanted to do it. But not the takeover of our government to run us.

Obama wanted to "change" America, and he has. The average American listened with our hearts, thinking he meant to clean up politics and the corruption that word stands for these days. But we didn't listen to his words. Out of his own mouth he has said he would change the economy. He has. He has destroyed it.

He wants to take from the rich and give to the poor. This is called socialism.

Pelosi said once they got this bill through that you - the American people that she did this for (not me) - would be so dependent on it you wouldn't want to change it. Just like the welfare generation we have today. Well I, for one, say no. I will do my best to get every one of the people who voted for this voted out of office come election time. That is our only hope so we can get this bill undone. Unless Obama takes away our freedom to vote, too.

Please, let us all stand together and get our country back. When did we become enemies just because we had different parties to represent us? Let us let all our members of Congress know the will of the people. Let us get that cancerous corruption out of government whether they are Democrat or Republican. This is a call to stand up and fight for what is right for America. Everything done so far has been to destroy America. Look around, what do you see? Don't let this be the death of this nation and the freedom that makes us America.

Thank you,

To the editor:

I am proud to be continuing my education, which was unaffordable without government grants/loans. Our school, Ivy Tech, has a large increased number of students who could not go back to school without grants. I am thrilled to see so many people taking advantage of these monies, both loans and grants.

The opportunity to continue one's education should not be denied because of lack of funding. When these students get their degrees, there will be many more RNs, Physical Therapy Assistants, Accountants, Criminologists, Psychologists, etc., ready to assume much needed positions in the work force. These are the people who are more than willing to make the effort to improve their lives through education. Most of them are unemployed and do not have marketable skills. By furthering their education, they acquire the skills that will give them a much brighter future, both for them and their families

Thank you, President Obama and Congress, for making these dreams comes true for millions of unskilled and under-skilled citizens. Hopefully, many more people will take on the challenge of furthering their education. What a relief to know we don't have to go deeper into debt to achieve our goals. Most of us do not comply with loan terms because of low credit scores. By passing and signing this bill, you all have given a great many of us hope for the future.

Again, thank you.
