Estimates submitted for SAHS work (3/11/05)

BERNE — Cost estimates are in for renovations at South Adams High School.
Estimates, submitted Tuesday to the South Adams School Board by Indianapolis architectural firm of Lamson and Condon, totaled $893,360. An alternate estimate could bring the project cost to more than $1 million if board members choose to add the $225,497.
The $893,360 project estimate includes $252,294 for gym renovations, $24,164 for lobby renovations, $99,211 for renovation of the varsity locker room, $136,127 for physical education locker room renovation, $124,256 for classroom renovation, $21,326 for renovation of the media area, $91,400 for renovations in the music area and $63,347 for restroom renovations. This total includes a contingency fee of 10 percent.
The $225,497 alternate bid includes an additional $121,853 in gymnasium renovations, $44,772 in varsity locker room renovations, $31,472 in classroom renovations and $6,900 for renovation of music classrooms. This total also includes a contingency fee of 10 percent.
In related business, the board voted to hold a common construction wage hearing during its April 12 meeting in anticipation of the project.
This hearing sets the minimum wage that can be paid for each job classification that will be working on the renovations.
In other business, board members granted an easement to the Berne stormwater utility management board for a retention pond located on SAHS property.
This easement will allow the city’s stormwater utility management board to maintain and work on the pond if needed.
Also Tuesday, the board:
•Hired LeeAnn Snyder as the girls SAHS junior varsity girls co-softball coach.
•Appointed Geneva resident Nancy Dedert to the Geneva Public Library Board.[[In-content Ad]]
