Expo thanks given out by chamber

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

The Jay County Chamber of Commerce 2010 Business Expo and Home Show committee would like to thank everyone who had a part in the success of this year's event. Our major sponsors were POET Biorefining, Jay County Hospital, Progressive Office Products, CenturyLink, FCC (Indiana) and Burkhart Advertising. We sincerely appreciate their generosity.

We also thank those businesses and organizations that exhibited at the Expo, which is designed to showcase our local businesses. And, of course, we greatly appreciate everyone who attended the event to see what Jay County businesses have to offer.

There are too many people to acknowledge individually. However, we would like to express appreciation to the Jay School Corporation for their cooperation with our venue transition into the auxiliary gymnasium. We also recognize Coca-Cola Enterprises for their donation and Greg Franklin for the electrical set-up. Thanks to all of the businesses that donated prizes for our raffle and the organizations that either provided entertainment or made delicious food available in our food court.

One of the Jay County Chamber of Commerce's major focuses is to encourage Jay County residents to support our local businesses. So thanks to all who attended the Expo to see what businesses in Jay County have to offer.

April Wallischeck and

Ron Laux, co-chairs,

To the editor:

The annual chicken dinner for local hunger was again successful due to our giving community.

The committee would like to thank not only the people who bought the tickets, but also the volunteers who helped to serve the meals, sell the tickets and provide items for the bake sale. Big thanks also go to Immaculate Conception Rosary Society for donating advertising on WPGW and to Rob Weaver and the radio station for doing over and above what we expected. Your loyalty to this community is greatly appreciated.

Big thanks to the Pizza Huts in Portland and Berne for donating ice and the printing of our tickets. Just a reminder for all those 750 ticket holders out there to redeem the coupons on the back of your tickets at Pizza Hut in Portland or Berne.

Of course, we once again wish to thank Fisher Packing for providing delicious dinners. It is our privilege to sell your meals for our fundraiser.

Having made changes this year, we needed a central location for distributing our meals and hosting our entertainment. Our thanks to the Jay Community Center for allowing us to use their facility.

Thanks also to The Rock crew for turning an empty room into a dining hall and stage in record time.

The Christian music was enjoyed by many. Our thanks to Son Rise from Plymouth, Ind., and The Rock Praise Band for sharing their talents, and to Pastor Jim Nichols for being the emcee for the evening.

Also, we would like to thank Wick's Pies in Winchester for the donation for our bake sale.

And last, but not least, a big thank you to the faithful folks from Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant for their continued support of this worthwhile project.

This year, all our proceeds will stay in Jay County. Through this community's generous support, we will be able to present a check for $4,148 to the Helping Hand Food Bank.

This includes a $1,600 match from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
