Facility is in good hands
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
A week ago Sunday I got the call. My mother was nearing the end of a long, full life.
Her pain and suffering had became unmanageable. At last, relief in the form of sleep came, and thankfully, she was able to pass on, peacefully, in her sleep.
This began a chain of events that culminated with a meeting in the business office of Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
A process, that by all rights, should have been a rather unpleasant proceeding, was anything but.
The new owners, Todd and Rob Penrod, could not have been more pleasant to deal with, or more professional.
I recall jumping with joy and even hugging Todd as we were both caught up in the exuberance of our Jay County Patriots stunning buzzer beater several years ago as we stood on the sidelines watching the boys basketball semi-state victory in Lafayette.
On that day, Todd was in uniform, as our elected sheriff. Last week, the setting was much more somber, but Todd and his son were just as professional as ever.
It is indeed safe to say the legacy of Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home is in very capable, good hands, with Todd and Rob Penrod now at the helm. Thank you for a beautiful setting, and a respectful send off for my 91-year-old mother.
Sincerely,
James D. Fulks III
