Family clarifies information on case (01/24/08)
Letter to the Editor
To the editor:
In response to the front page article written in The Commercial Review on Jan. 16 regarding the crowded courtroom, we would like to clarify some inaccurate information stated in the article.
The headline read, "Courtroom crowded for local hearing." The courtroom was not at all crowded. In fact, there were many empty seats. There may have been more people present than a typical hearing, but the courtroom was far from being crowded.
We were there to show our support for Colleen, whom we love and care about sincerely. The people in attendance were cordial, concerned and respectful. Quite the contrast of a group that would get "out of hand." We question the logic and reasoning for the excessive number of police officers funded by the hard-working taxpayers of Jay County.
It was stated in the article that Colleen Welling did not speak. This is also inaccurate. Colleen responded respectfully to every question asked of her. In conclusion, it is not understood how The Commercial Review stated that the said foreclosed property belonged to Colleen, when in fact her family was simply the tenant of that residence.
The information The Commercial Review was given was inaccurate.
Respectfully submitted,
Marcel and Mary Ellen Welling, Bryant, for family, friends and neighbors of Colleen Welling[[In-content Ad]]
