Farmers' market set Aug. 6
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Thanks to the support of Jay County Commissioners, there will be a farmers’ market in 2011. In recent years there has been a market located at Arts Place on Saturday afternoons during the growing season.
That will not be the case this year.
Instead, starting on Aug. 6, 2011, a Farmers’ Market will be held on the south side of the Jay County Courthouse from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
The public is encouraged not to park on the south side of the courthouse during those hours so that vendors can, on a first-come, first-served basis, set up shop in a maximum of two parking spaces per vendor. Vendors will not be charged and will not be asked to sign a contract as in the past.
They will be expected to do the following:
1. Leave the spaces they occupy in the same condition as they were found.
2. Assume liability for their products and their actions.
Excess produce from gardeners can be sold at the Farmers’ Market or donated to the Helping Hand Food Bank run by Community and Family Services.
Commercial growers and craftsmen are also encouraged to sell their products at the Farmers’ Market.
Thanks again to the commissioners for their support.

Show thanks
To the editor:
The Hollow Block Monster Cruisers would like to thank all the sponsors and car buffs who helped to make a successful show to benefit a family in crisis.
Sometimes things happen in our life that if we had the control it would be different or we would not allow it to happen. Life is very precious and no one wants to lose it or have someone take it from us. That choice is in the hands of a God who says it’s time for you to come home.
The Kasey Harris family didn’t have a choice in the battle against cancer that took their loved one. Kasey was a daughter, mother and grandmother. We want to thank each of you that helped in any way to help this family, which will continue to trust their path to be led by the hand of a loving God who cares and is a comfort, as a grandma cares for the family Kasey had to leave. That family includes her grandson Dustin, who hopefully will become stronger each day as we keep this family in prayer together, just as we came together to support this show.
