Final street project payment OK'd (11/08/05)

FORT RECOVERY — Another street project here has been completed and council members Monday night agreed to make the final payment on the work.
The Gwendolyn Street project, which has been in progress a little more than a year, has been completed — including the sowing of grass seed, village administrator Randy Diller told the council Monday evening. The final bill from Jutte Excavating for $214,419.40 was presented and approved by the council.
The project began in summer 2004 with the installation of a storm sewer. New water lines were added during the winter, sanitary sewer lines were put down this summer, and the reconstruction, including sidewalks and paving, was recently completed by Jutte.
Diller said the project moved slowly because much of the work was done by town employees.
To help with the payment the council also approved transferring $140,000 from the income tax fund to street construction, maintenance and repair and $25,000 from the same fund to general fund.
While work on Gwendolyn Street draws to a close, the council is looking at the Buck Ditch storm sewer replacement project.
Diller said engineers from Choice One have completed some topographic work and preliminary engineering so that the final plans can be made.
Plans call for bidding the project by the end of the year and having the work completed through winter.
In other business the council reminded residents that the town hall will be closed Friday in observance of Veteran’s Day.
Following the regular meeting the council met in executive session to discuss personnel and wage reviews.[[In-content Ad]]
