Flowers serve to brighten day
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
How beautiful.
We have such lovely flowerpots and boxes in downtown Portland.
The Plant, Hoe and Hope Garden Club has done a wonderful transformation within our city. My boxes at the Pregnancy Care Center are so bright and cheerful, just looking at them can change a bad day into a very good one.
Memorial Day is fast approaching and we can remember and honor all with our beautiful displays of color.
Many, many thanks to the hard work of these folks. We are blessed to live in such a nice spot in Indiana.
Sincerely,
Patty Johnston
Pregnancy Care Center
Thank you
To the editor:
We, at Judan Judo, would like to thank all the sponsors who helped make the 2014 Indiana State Judo Championships that were held here in Jay County a success.
This was our most successful tournament to date in the 10 years that we have been hosting the event.
We had athletes from 47 judo clubs representing seven states and Canada.
We would like to thank the parents and students who gave their time to help the event run smoothly.
We also had many local businesses step up and support our event.
•Mat sponsors: Bickel’s Equipment Rental, TJ’s Concrete, CCL LLC, Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home, Adams Physical Therapy, Patriot Fitness, Sills Farms, Clear Choice Chiropractic, Marv Kahlig and Sons Farm Drainage, Racster Jacks & Assoc., Pioneer Packaging, MJS Mortuaries, Tarter Realty, Display Craft, Jay County REMC, Brigade Electronics, Dr. George & Associates, Andy Landon Excavating, Progressive Office Products, Advocare by Andy & Kelsey Castillo, Secret Security Systems, Jamberry, and Jay County Hospital.
•T-shirt sponsors: M&E Construction, Arms Body Shop, Farber Surveying, Masters Insurance, Fear Farms, Poet, R & R RV Repair, Schmit Chiropractic Offices, Jay Family Medicine, Fort Recovery Construction & Equipment, Shawver Real Estate, Tire Center, Maria Stein Trenching & Excavating, Aker-Taylor Plumbing Heating & A/C, NAPA Motor Parts, Jay County Pawnbroker and Ritz Theater.
•Program sponsors: The Cottage, Dicks Pizza Palace, The General Store, David & Linda Peters, Mark Aker Plumbing, Miles Mowing & Lawn Care, Buffalo Wings and Rings, Holiday Inn Express, Crossroads Financial FCU, Evans Fine Jewelry, Bixler Insurance, Jay Smokin’ BBQ and Sonoco Packaging.
Additionally, we would like to acknowledge Jay School Corporation, East Jay Junior High, Tyson Mexican Original, The Flower Nook, Jeff Hess, Brian Kenney, Ed Geesaman and Joe Johnson. Without the support of these individuals and businesses, we would be unable to continue to serve and encourage the youth of Jay County.
Thank you again for all the support.
