Former Starfires compete

Collegiate Check-up

A pair of former Starfire runners traveled to Illinois on Friday to compete for their Goshen College squads.  
Alli Beitler, a 2010 SAHS graduate, helped the Maple Leaf women to a 14th-place finish in a field of 33 teams at the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana.
Tim Lehman, South Adams class of 2012, ran for the ninth-place men’s team.
Beitler turned in the No. 3 time for the Goshen women in the 6K race. She finished in 25 minutes, 5.8 seconds, for 88th place overall.
Lehman finished 161st for the Maple Leaf men. He had a time of 28:01.6 in the 8K event.

Adam Gray
Jay County – 2009
Helped the University of St. Francis men’s golf team to a third-place finish Saturday at the Manchester Fall Invitational.
Gray turned in the No. 4 score for the Cougars as he posted an 82. He shot a 3-over-par 38 on the back nine.

Kelsey Fiely
Fort Recovery – 2013
Helped the University of Northwestern Ohio volleyball team to a 25-18, 25-18, 25-11 victory Friday over Lourdes.
Fiely played in one game and recorded three digs.
The Racers improved to 13-1 overall and 5-0 in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Dustin Wanner
SA – 2012
Played for the Taylor University football team Saturday in its 21-10 loss to NAIA No. 25 William Penn.
Wanner made one tackle for the Trojans in the defeat.
Taylor is 2-2 on the season with both losses coming against nationally-ranked foes.

Sam Heckard
SA – 2010
Competed for the Bethel College men’s cross country team Saturday at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by Minnesota.
Heckard finished in 444th place with a time of 34 minutes, 38.6 seconds, in the 8K race. The Pilots placed 34th out of 44 teams.[[In-content Ad]]
