Former teammates meet in Findlay
Collegiate check-up
Greg Kahlig and Jason Pottkotter were teammates when Fort Recovery authored their most memorable tournament run of the last decade.
On Saturday, the former Indians met on the court as opponents.
Kahlig led his NCAA Division II No. 24 University of Findlay men’s basketball team to a 74-38 victory over Pottkotter’s University of Northwestern Ohio squad.
In leading the Oilers (8-2), Kahlig, a 2010 Fort Recovery High School graduate, finished 5-of-6 from the field and hit all of his five free-throw attempts as he scored 16 points. He also had four rebounds and a pair of assists.
Pottkotter (FRHS – 2012), who was a starter along with Kahlig on FRHS’s 2010 regional finalist squad, scored two points in the loss to the Oilers. He also had three rebounds for the Racers (8-6).
Kahlig leads the Oilers in scoring at 15.1 points per game while shooting 53 percent from the field and 43 percent from 3-point range. Pottkotter is averaging 0.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists in about 10 minutes of action per game.

Reached double figures twice in three days as she helped the Huntington University women’s basketball team to a 2-1 record at the Saint Xavier University Tournament.
Speed’s best game came in a 77-61 semifinal loss Friday to the host Cougars as she shot 8-of-12 from the field with a 3-pointer and 6-of-6 at the line for 23 points. She also led the Foresters (8-4) with six rebounds and three assists.
The junior totaled 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists Saturday as HU capped the tournament with a 77-65 victory over St. Francis (Ill.). She had nine points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals in Thursday’s 59-44 win over St. Joseph.
Joanna Snyder
Fort Recovery – 2009
Helped lead the Ohio Northern University women’s basketball team in scoring as one of two players to reach double figures Saturday as the NCAA Division III No. 19 Polar Bears rolled to their 10th straight win, 83-50 over Adrian.
Snyder reached double figures for the fifth straight game and 10th time this season as she tallied 10 points for ONU (11-1). She also had four rebounds, two blocks and an assist.
Megan Taylor
Jay County – 2010
Picked up an award for her efforts on the Manchester College women’s cross country team.
Taylor was selected as the Spartans’ representative on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. She also earned All-HCAC academic honors.
Kylie Kahlig
Fort Recovery – 2012
Was the No. 2 rebounder Saturday for the University of Northwestern Ohio women’s basketball team in its 72, 40 loss to Findlay.
Kahlig finished with seven rebounds for the Racers (5-10) with four of those coming on the offensive ed. She also went 4-of-4 at the foul line to finish with four points.

Scored for the NAIA No. 16 Bethel College women’s basketball team in its 76-74 victory over Concordia on Monday in the consolation game of the Ave Maria University Tournament.
Hunt came off the bench and hit her only long-distance attempt of the game to finish with three points. She also had one rebound and one assist.[[In-content Ad]]
