Fort 7th graders capture MAC crown (02/11/08)

Fort Recovery Middle School went 2-of-3 in its season finales Saturday.
The seventh grade girls team highlighted the day with a Midwest Athletic Conference championship, defeated the New Bremen Cardinals 26-14 in the final round of the tournament.
The Indian seventh grade boys won 31-26 over the host Celina Bulldogs in the consolation bracket of the McKirnan Classic, and the eighth grade girls finished as the MAC runners-up with a 21-13 loss to the Misnter Wildcats.
Chelsea Pottkotter led the seventh grade girls to the championship with nine points. Rachel Rammel added six points, and Janelle Schwieterman scored three.
Fort Recovery's only loss of the season came against East Jay.
Chad Schroer scored 12 points to lead the seventh grade boys, who finished at 5-12. Keith Fortkamp and Trent Kaiser added eight points apiece.
In the eighth grade girls championship game, Kelly Nietfeld paced the Tribe with four points. Kendra Stammen totaled three points.[[In-content Ad]]
