FORT RECOVERY - The Indians fell behind 7-0 Thursday. But the remainder of the first half belonged to them.

After the early struggles, the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team ripped off a 28-5 run on the way to a 51-39 victory over the St. Henry Redskins.

The Tribe (13-3, 6-1 Midwest Athletic Conference) went scoreless for the first three minutes Thursday while Kenzie Bruggeman, Brooke Mattingly and Heather Rammel staked the visiting Redskins to their early lead. But once Nicole Pottkotter brought the brief drought with a hoop off of a Joanna Snyder assist, Fort Recovery never looked back.

Snyder tied the game at seven with a 3-pointer, and after Pottkotter gave the Indians a two-point advantage with 12 seconds left in the opening period they never gave up the lead.

Chelsea Leuthold scored seven points during the mammoth Tribe run, which Emily May capped with a jumper with 55 seconds to go in the first half. Pottkotter added six points, and Koesters and Kinsey Wenning each had four.

FRHS led the Redskins (8-8, 3-4 MAC) by as many as 19 in the win.

Pottkotter shot 6-of-10 from the field to pace Fort Recovery with 15 points. She also had six rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block.

Snyder contributed 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, and Leuthold had nine points.

Mattingly was on fire from the field, shooting 8-of-10 as she led St. Henry with 20 points and six rebounds. But the rest of the Redskins shot a combined 7-of-34 (21 percent).

Bruggeman added eight points, three assists and three steals. Rammel also scored eight points, and Emily Post had six rebounds.
