Fort drops two against Cougars (04/14/08)

FORT RECOVERY - The Cougars simply would not be slowed Saturday.
Visiting Van Wert scored runs in 10 out of 11 innings in the double header, handing the Fort Recovery High School softball team losses by scores of 15-11 and 19-0 in five innings.
The Indians led 9-4 after two innings of game one, but lost the lead when Van Wert racked up seven runs in the top of the fifth. FRHS (2-5) pulled back to within one at 12-11, but the Cougars scored three times in the top of the sixth to put the game away
Van Wert dominated game two, grabbing a four-run lead in the first inning and scoring 10 in the fourth. The Indians managed just one hit, a single by Val Fortkamp.
Senior Beth May and junior Kinsey Wenning each pitched in both games, and each took one loss. Wenning dropped the opener, allowing 10 runs - 12 earned on six hits and four walks in 4 2/3 innings. May took the game-two loss, giving up four runs on three hits in a third of an inning.
Ashley Grube doubled and scored twice for Fort Recovery in the opener. Kelly Sudhoff drove in three runs, Fortkamp and Joanna Snyder each scored twice, and LeAnne Tobin and Amy Hart had two hits apiece.[[In-content Ad]]
