Fort earns rematch (10/15/2008)

NEW BREMEN, Ohio - The Indians will get a second chance to play the second-ranked team in the state.

Fort Recovery High School's volleyball team earned a berth in Saturday's sectional championship match with a 25-12, 25-22, 13-25, 25-21 victory Tuesday over the New Knoxville Rangers in the opening round of the Division IV tournament at New Bremen.

The Tribe will play the No. 2 Marion Local Flyers in the title match Saturday at 2 p.m.

Junior Nicole Pottkotter powered Fort Recovery (11-12) over the Rangers (11-12) with team highs of 22 assists and 10 points. She also added eight kills and eight digs.

Joanna Snyder had 16 digs, 10 kills and three blocks, and Kinsey Wenning had 10 points and nine kills. Anne Koesters totaled nine kills and four blocks, and Emily May led the defense with 17 digs.

The Indians also defeated New Knoxville in four games during the regular season. They lost 25-19, 25-13, 25-27, 25-15 Oct. 2 to Marion Local.[[In-content Ad]]
