Fort eighth graders take MAC title (02/14/05)

DELPHOS, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s eighth grade girls basketball team had just two losses. The New Bremen Cardinals were responsible for one of them. But, the Indians got their revenge Saturday.
Joanna Snyder hit the winning hoop with 10 seconds to go, leading the Tribe the Midwest Athletic Conference tournament title 31-29 over New Bremen.
Snyder carried Fort Recovery (14-2), scoring 21 points as it avenged a 40-28 loss to the Cardinals during the regular season. She finished with a double-double as she also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Kinsey Wenning followed with five points and four rebounds. Kelsey Wuebker had four points, and Anne Koesters finished with four boards.
FR seventh finishes 2nd
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery seventh grade girls basketball team also played for the MAC tournament title Saturday, but fell just short in a 25-22 loss to the Delphos St. Johns Blue Jays.
The Indians (13-3) trailed by two with just 1:48 to go, but fought back to get within 23-22. But, St. Johns scored with seven seconds to go and the Tribe couldn’t get a last-second 3-point try to fall.
Nicole Pottkotter and Josie Guggenbiller each scored nine points in the defeat. Emily May added four.[[In-content Ad]]
