ROCKFORD, Ohio — Fort Recovery brought the game within one score in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t find the necessary offense down the stretch as it fell 21-15 to conference rival Parkway.
The Indians (2-3, 0-3 Midwest Athletic Conference) trailed 21-9 coming into the fourth when quarterback Jason Pottkotter scrambled for a 4-yard touchdown run with 10:15 remaining.
After a missed PAT left the score at 21-15, Fort Recovery’s offense had two full possessions before the final gun but couldn’t put a drive together.
After picking off Parkway’s Bryce Bedwell at the 8:50 mark, the Indians drove 32 yards before being set back by two stuffed runs and a 10-yard penalty. Fort Recovery forced a three-and-out on defense, but then turned the ball over on downs after tossing four incompletions on the ensuing drive.
The Indians’ defense appeared to have Parkway (2-3, 1-2 MAC) shut down after three short runs, but coughed up a five-yard penalty. The Panthers used the fresh set of downs to eat the clock, giving the ball back to Fort Recovery with only 10 seconds remaining. The Indians had more than 50 yards to cover and made one final completion before the buzzer.

Fort Recovery opened the evening’s scoring with a safety late in the first quarter as Kyle Schmitz recorded the tackle in the Panther’s end zone. The Indians added another seven points in the middle of the second before Parkway got on the board with its first TD.
Parkway stole the lead in the third quarter with two touchdowns in two possessions, with the second coming shortly after the Panthers picked off Fort Recovery’s Kenny Wenning.
Wenning threw 12-of-18 for 150 yards with a touchdown and interception to lead the Indians’ passing attack. Pottkotter and Shane Brunswick also combined to throw 1-for-5 for 16 yards.
Brian Keller led Fort Recovery on the ground with 39 yards rushing.
Aaron Vagedes led the receiving corp with five catches for 72 yards and a touchdown while Ryan Schoen nabbed four passes for 41 yards and Derek Gaerke had three receptions for 36 yards.
