Fort falls to No. 1 Flyers (10/22/07)

NEW BREMEN, Ohio - No. 1 was just too much to overcome.

The Fort Recovery High School volleyball team battled the top-ranked Marion Local in Saturday's second and third games, but ended its season with a 25-10, 25-22, 25-22 loss to the Flyers in their Division IV sectional championship match at New Bremen.

Sophomore Nicole Pottkotter came up with team highs of 11 assists and seven points for the Indians, who finished the year at 12-12. She also had eight digs and four blocks.

Kinsey Wenning, a junior, totaled nine digs and six blocks, and junior Anne Koesters had eight kills and four blocks. Kelsey Wuebker matched Pottkotter with 11 assists, Joanna Snyder had seven kills and Beth May scored five points.

Rachel Tobe and Emily May finished with eight digs apiece, and Sarah Braun had four blocks.

Marion Local, now 22-1, moves on to the district semifinal Tuesday at New Bremen. It will play the host No. 10 Cardinals (16-6), who topped Minster 25-10, 25-22, 27-25 in Saturday's second sectional title match.[[In-content Ad]]
