FORT RECOVERY - After a day of rain stretched into Friday evening, it figured to be a tough night on the offensive side.
It was for one side.
Versailles, limiting host Fort Recovery to an average of less than 1 yard per offensive play, rode the arm of quarterback Derek Langenkamp to a 27-0 Midwest Athletic Conference victory here Friday night.
The Tigers, who improve to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in MAC play, rolled to a 14-0 first quarter lead and added a pair of second half scores.
The Indians, now 3-4 on the season (2-3 in the conference), found very few positive plays offensively.
They were limited to negative 3 yards rushing on 17 attempts. Fort quarterback Greg Kahlig completed 6-of-22 passes in the game for just 36 yards and one interception.
The Tigers' Langenkamp hurt Fort with both his arm and his legs, completing 16-of-25 passes for 229 yards and the three scores while picking up 97 yards on 23 carries Friday.
Zach Niekamp put Versailles up at 7:45 of the first quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run, while Langenkamp tossed a 25-yard scoring pass to Jordan Monnin with a little more than two minutes left in the first.
Aaron McNeilan hauled in a 40-yard TD toss from Langenkamp in the third period, while Monnin caught a touchdown of 53 yards in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.
Craig Tobe had two receptions for Fort Friday, while Aaron Vagedes had one catch for 22 yards.
Fort Recovery will be back in action Friday against St. Henry.[[In-content Ad]]
