Fort finalists identified

FORT RECOVERY — The field of 21 candidates vying for superintendent of Fort Recovery Schools has been narrowed down to four.
Fort Recovery principals Shelly Vaughn (elementary) and Jeff Hobbs (high school) are on the short list, as well as principals Timothy Edsell of Kokomo and Charles Leedle of Millersport, Ohio.
Pat Niekamp has been serving as interim superintendent since July 2009, after superintendent David Riel left for another job.
Interviews with the four candidates were scheduled to wrap up last week. When a new superintendent will be named has not been announced yet. Mercer County Educational Service Center Superintendent Andy Smith is helping school board members with the selection process.
Vaughn is principal of Fort Recovery Elementary School and holds degrees from Ball State University and Wright State University-Lake Campus. She has worked for Fort Recovery schools since 1999, serving as a teacher, varsity track head coach and principal.
Hobbs was hired as Fort Recovery High School principal in August of 2009. He earned degrees at Wittenberg University and the University of Dayton. He has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent. He has worked for Sidney City Schools, Greenville City Schools and Chillicothe City Schools.
Edsell currently serves as high school principal at Northwestern Schools in Kokomo. He holds degrees from Cedarville University, Ball State University and Indiana State University. He has worked as a teacher, assistant principal and principal at schools in Indiana and Florida.
The fourth candidate, Leedle, works as high school principal at Walnut Township Local. He earned degrees from The Ohio State University, and has worked as a teacher, assistant principal and principal.[[In-content Ad]]
